A Danish/RP debut from Lt Headtrip and NorthenDraw. Original West-Coast rhythms from NorthernD to boot it off. Sludgy, swaggered, slightly funked up ‘n electric sampling and beat patterning. Free flowing lyricism to ride out the rest of it. Something real and organic going on here, comes from the heart and delivers like a window into a world far afield from the austere greys of this Northern European Friday.
Nomadi w/ Michelangelo
Nomadi returns after a measured break to ease in Friday’s proceedings. Inviting Michelangelo this time, only the second Italian guest no less, a long trip made prior to landing in Copenhagen in an old Panda as an impetus for a winding discussion on the nomadic experience, differing music scenes, life, et cetera. Highly relaxing, interesting, and personal soundtracked conversation.
Pacific Bureau b2b Dancehallmandela
Pacific Bureau and Dancehallmandela see it out. The formers name an indicator of what comes forth. House music made like an ode to salty hair swept around the droptop. West-coastal excursion soundtracking: ecstatic deep-house meets progressive techno and primo cuts of post-century club music. Like tracing sound from the waters edge to the metropole day to night. Tip!
Illian
Ooft. The android looms large on this one. Illian delves into the post-apocalypse via the sounds of the pre-century and its contemporaries. 808 stacked and attacked in an hour of subaltern electro drawn from those most aggy corners of the machine-drum style. Sounds out like some futurist (underwater?) battle-space all within the confines of that inimitable 1 12 1 1 2 pattern. Heavy.
inside//out w/ inesse & LFL
Double trouble this. Partners in a shared love for multi-frequency head scratching, tactual dons inesse and LFL link brain-wires on two hours of primo electronic m.u.s.i.c for inside//out. Where to begin. Plugged in to the machine, tweaking it in an ever spiralling two hour looparound of morphing ambi-techno. A play on shifting, constrained, raw swirls that drive forward, downward, upward, around. Meeting of minds really. TIP!
Mohajer
Head winding drum circles from Mohajer to open up this hazy Friday afternoon of Pride weekend. Legend of Talking Dog’s ‘My Shadow Dances’ is about as strong of an opener as they come, prelude to an hour of seriously classy bits of techno styled to the dawn of the millenium. Slightly electro-fied with a touch of percussive swirl and a few toes dipped in that trance-lite prog-hypno-realm, it's excellent. Tip.
Muzzla+
Something hard to pin yet clearly refined. Muzzla+ steps to it with a crate tuned somewhere to the key of lightly funkified and soulbound methods in, jungle, ambi-jazz-fusions, hip-hop, euro-2k-trip-hop ‘n breaks. The harder I try the harder I fall. It’s lounge-dwelling music. With a swanky and ever present thread ran right through the middle of it whether via DJ Food, Shola Ama, The Roots, Roni Size…list goes on. Excellent. Tip.
sketchbook w/ blană & Prince of Whales
The latest edition of house favourite ‘sketchbook’ sees blană invite local obsessive Prince of Whales for two hours of mind wandering sonic worldbuilding. Taking the kind of out-of-body impulses of tripped out strands of ambient-world music and field recordings as its cue, the pair gently ascend up a kind of cloud-elevator into hybrid-dub-downtempo, mystified proto-lounge drifters, and swirly new century breakbeat to round it out. Fantastic stuff. Tip!
Kune Horizons w/ Senglyst
Senglyst delves deep on the second hour of Kune Horizons day two. Vessel’s dawning, smoked out, hazy affects are laid bare in this mix charting those deepest recesses of late 90s and early 00s progressive trance. Those drum-forward, slightly tweaked, playful cuts of driving and expressive club forms. Includes bits from Changing Shape, Lambda, and Buttechno to name a few. Excellent. Tip.
Kune Horizons w/ Boochie & Handless DJ
The Belgian connection opens up the Kune Horizons weekend. Fridays for Space. Handless DJ and Boochie go head on into the swirl in an hour and a half of stripped back headwinding electro. It's an alt-flavoured mystic sift through acid programming and analogue rhythm drawn from the world over. Essential, playfully deep music from the likes of DJ Hell to Harmonious Thelonious and Biosphere. Tip!
